Take A Russian Holiday

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

There was a time not too long ago when taking a trip to Russia was not something any vacationer would ever consider. Thankfully, the times have changed. Today, Russia has become a popular destination for many travelers especially during the holidays. If you are planning a trip to Russia it’s not quite as simple as hopping on a flight and landing in Moscow. To get the most out of your vacation trip you need to do some due diligence with regard to planning out your trip. First and foremost you need to make sure your US passports are up to date and that you have properly filed for Russian visas. Once the paperwork is out of the way you should be considering some other factors with regard to planning your Russian vacation.

A major consideration for vacation traveler is whether or not to go with a tour group or do it on your own. There are many advantages of going with a tour group especially if you’re traveling to Russia for the first time. A tour group will be able to take you to those popular destinations without you having to worry about how to get there. Then there is the cost to consider. For a seven-day trip to Russia you can find yourself putting together a very decent package for around $2500 per person. This should include decent hotel accommodations, private guides, Museum fees and airport transfers. You could pay more for hotel accommodations but if you’re knocking to be spending a lot of time in those hotel rooms do you really need to go five star as opposed to four star?

You also want to pick the best time for your trip to Russia. While it is true that many holiday travelers like to make the trek to the Kremlin, those brutal winters might prove to be too uncomfortable especially if you’re going to be doing some walking tours. The best time to travel to Russia is around the middle of May to the middle of September. That’s when the weather will be perfect. It also gives you plenty of time to make sure your US passports and Russian visas are in proper order.

Once you settle on the dates think about the days of the week. A weekend in Moscow might be better than during the week because you’ll avoid traffic jams and could also find many special weekend package pricing. Another great way to see all that Russia has to offer is to take a river cruise. This might not automatically be included in your tour package but is absolutely something to consider.

Finally, if you’re going to be using a specific travel agent or tour group to help you plan your trip it wouldn’t hurt to check out some reviews online of their services. While it is true that you can’t please all the people all the time you still should be able to get a general idea of how well a particular business performance by the nature of the majority of reviews written about them. When it comes to your US passports or Russian visas you definitely want to go with a trusted company who has not only been in the business for several years but also has relationships with the embassies and consulates on both sides of the trip!

Understanding Your Bankruptcy Options

Thursday, December 22nd, 2011

American Airlines was recently in the news when they declared they were seeking bankruptcy protection to help get their business out of a slump. While this is often considered standard practice for many companies, individuals also have the same options when it comes to helping them sort out their financial woes. Because any type of bankruptcy filing involves the court system, you’re going to need to align yourself with competent representation. That can be found with an experienced Woodland Hills bankruptcy attorney or a Thousand Oaks bankruptcy attorney. You’re first consultation with these legal experts will have you facing two distinct choices: Should you file for a Chapter 7 or a Chapter 13 bankruptcy.

As your Thousand Oaks bankruptcy attorney or Woodland Hills bankruptcy attorney will explain a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing is best suited for the individual who has a low or no current income. With this type of filing you will be selling off your assets to pay for your debt. This would mean taking any unsecured property such as a car that has been completely paid for, a boat or other type of vehicles and selling them. Those funds will then be dispersed to your creditors to satisfy a debt. This is not a process that happens over one weekend. Usually you’ll be given 4 to 6 months to accomplish the liquidation process.

Your Thousand Oaks bankruptcy attorney or your Woodland Hills bankruptcy attorney will also advise you that if you have secured property such as a home that you’re still making payments on, you can either surrender that property or ask for a redemption or reaffirmation. With a redemption agreement you’ll have to make a single, large lump sum payment to the institution that is holding the deed. With reaffirmation, you’ll have to arrange to make payments. If either one of those conditions aren’t met the property can be forfeited.

A Chapter 13 bankruptcy will be described by your Woodland Hills bankruptcy attorney or Thousand Oaks bankruptcy attorney as being better suit to someone who has a steady source of income. With this form of bankruptcy, you’ll be making arrangements to pay off all your debts. However, those arrangements can include court order reductions of late fees and large interest rates. The key benefit with a Chapter 13 filing is that you’ll be allowed to keep all of your property.

Part of both bankruptcy filings will be court ordered credit counseling. An experience Woodland Hills bankruptcy attorney or a Thousand Oaks bankruptcy attorney will be able to walk you through these processes and select which is the best option for your condition. If you’re in over your head with debt, your best course of action is to take charge and seek out the advice of counsel. Ignoring the issue is not going to make it go away.
