Last year, after so many years of going to the NBA games without her, I was going to take my mother along with me. My mother is not a big fan of any athletic event and has always just put up with us talking about them. She really doesn’t follow any sports teams or know much about any sporting event especially the NBA.

Basketball has always been one of our familys favorite sports and we always felt that we were leaving my mother out of part of our lives by not bringing her with us. This year was to be different, she was going with us. We purchased our tickets and got the best seats we could. The day came when we were going to the NBA game, and Mom was ready to go. She had packed a special bag for us to have some snacks along the way. We made sure to set our homes security alarm (ADT home security specials) and then left.

Mom said she really enjoyed the game but, I think she was just going through the motions as she always had when we talked about it years ago. I think what she did enjoy was having a day out with her family, even if she had to put up with the NBA to do it. Next year, Mom is planning on joining us again.
