What is Internet Radio?

Friday, January 20th, 2012

Internet radio is a way for you to listen to music on a radio online. Some of the providers will let you customize what you listen to while others will be playing exactly what is on the am/fm radio. Both finds can be free or may require you to pay an amount to listen to extra hours or even to begin listening at all. You will find that by listening to the radio online there are so many things that you can hear.

Some people who like 70s music find that the online radio is the best option for them. This is because they are able to listen to it all day long and not have to worry about hearing anything but music from the 70s. Not to mention the fact that depending on which site they are listening to they will even be able to customize the station so they will be able to listen to the artists that interest them the most.

Overall, streaming radio has been a great invention that has made the whole radio experience something that is very easy to listen to. It is better than the am/fm radio and most of the time it is free. If you do have to pay a fee many people find that it is well worth the money because they are able to cut back on the commercials and all the talk shows. Check around and do some research you may be amazed at what you find out.

Ashton Kutcher Will Replace Charlie Sheen

Saturday, May 21st, 2011

In March, after Charlie Sheen was fired from his starring role in CBS’s “Two and a Half Men,” no one knew if the hit show would continue. May’s not quite over but already it’s been announced that Ashton Kutcher will be the one to replace Sheen. Kutcher’s new role is coming with a “huge payday,” according to unnamed sources. In return, Kutcher promises to “work [his] ass off to entertain the hell out of people!” That remains to be seen.

The embattled show’s creator and executive producer, Chuck Lorre, had nothing but flowers to throw at Kutcher: “We are so lucky to have someone as talented, joyful and just plain remarkable as Ashton joining our family…Added to that is the deep sigh of relief knowing that our family stays together. If I was any happier, it’d be illegal.”

Among the list of actors being considered for Sheen’s replacement was Hugh Grant. Alas, talks with Grant did not progress. The Hollywood Reporter, credited for scooping the story, is also reporting that Kutcher’s introduction is expected satisfy the network and the studio.

Ashton Kutcher was last seen in “No Strings Attached” with Natalie Portman as his “unattached” love interest. Kutcher, who’s been married to Demi Moore since 2005, rose to stardom thanks to his role as Michael Kelso in “That 70’s Show.” After the series ended, Kutcher executive produced “Punk’d” on MTV and was cast as a lead character on many romantic comedies. All were not successful.

However, Ashton Kutcher made it big on Twitter where he became the first person to reach 1 million followers. At the moment, his total hovers around 6.7 million and his new bosses are hoping that some of those people follow him all the way to their television sets.

Kutcher played coy on the news Thursday. “I’m starting to become convinced that people put my name in articles just to improve their SEO or hoping I’ll tweet it,” he wrote on Twitter.

Knitting In Front Of Satellite TV Makes Me Smile

Friday, December 31st, 2010

I appreciate the guest post, Rodrigo Coffey

You cannot go wrong when you learn how to knit, because once you do, you will never be without something creative to do. I learned that lesson a long time ago. After learning to knit as a young woman, and creating several pieces that I used for many years, I set my needles down and forgot about them for a while.

After spending many years in the workaday world with little time for hobbies or other pleasurable activities, I found myself with quite a bit of idle time on my hands after retiring, and just could not see myself sitting in front of the Directv HD Packages doing nothing. So, I picked up my needles again and went to work. I found that I could still enjoy the programs I had become accustomed to and reward my creative side as well.

Knitting is one of the most enjoyable activities I do these days, because I am not just creating something of beauty for myself, I am also creating things like scarves and afghans and stocking caps for other people. I love to see the smile on their face when they receive something that I have put so much love into. After all isn’t that what holiday seasons are all about. making people smile.

General Hospital, My Favorite Daytime TV Show

Thursday, August 12th, 2010

Guest written by our friend Trent Horton

I love General Hospital. It airs on ABC, and I record it every weekday on my satellite dish so that I can watch it on Directtv when I get home from work. I’m a big fan of soaps, and General Hospital has been my favorite ever since I was a little girl.

My favorite pairing on GH was Robin and Jagger from back in the 90s. I had such a crush on him, and I cried when he died of AIDS. My heart was broken! Robin is still on the show, but none of her lovers have measured up to the chemistry and passion that she shared with Jagger.

My most loathsome character in all of GH history is Sonny Corinthos. He’s a mob boss who is given way too much attention. I often wish the storylines would focus more on other characters, with only a tiny bit of air time for the Corinthos family. I can’t stand Carly. I also despise Sonny’s bratty daughter Kristina, though her abuse story does add some delicious drama. At one point, Kris was severely beaten by her boyfriend, but she lied and ditched the blame onto someone else. All of this sends macho-man Sonny into a blind rage to avenge what happened to her. It was awesome.

Want to buy linen napkins?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

When one makes arrangements for a wedding, one should remember that it is a unique event in his or her life. Be it personalized favors that you need to prepare to thank your guests for making themselves available for this special occasion or even personalized napkins that can make your wedding reception really stand out.

No matter what the occasion, if one must look for the best under realistic limits (err… keeping in mind the budget), several companies online can take orders in bulk so that you can have simple items straightened out in the form of chair slipcovers among other items for the special occasion that you have planned.

Another reason why one should go for the best that they can afford is because several items such as linen napkins can used for several occasions after their wedding day. One can reduce costs by buying them wholesale, and since they are available in a variety of colors, one will be able to use them going forward while it also serves as a pleasant memory every time it is used. Items like silk flowers also work just as well as fresh flowers, and don’t cost as much. More importantly, one can continue to use them as well in the years to come

In more ways than one, thinking like one’s wife does even before getting married can be a boon!

    Filming in Event Halls

    Friday, December 5th, 2008

While banquet halls around the country are frequently used as wedding reception venues and the locations of other major events, they have a whole other purpose when located inside the Thirty Mile Zone, a phrase sometimes used to describe the area around Hollywood, California.  Many movies, TV shows, commercials, and events are filmed in this area where showbiz remains one of the most prominent and popular industries.  And many event halls in the area have been used as Los Angeles filming locations for a variety of different types of productions.  While not all event halls will be able to give you a complete list of productions that have been filmed there due to non-disclosure agreements, even a partial list could reveal some very familiar and exciting titles.

Whether you’re looking for the perfect reception site for the wedding of your dreams or you are filming a project of your own and are examining ballroom filming locations in the Los Angeles area, knowing that you are at a location that has already been seen on TV or the silver screen by millions of people can add a whole new level of excitement to your day.  While not as important as features like capacity or the ability to provide adult day health care meals, it is yet another benefit of living and working in L.A.
